Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been placed on injured reserve, meaning he must miss at least four games.

What Happened

The team made the move on Saturday, two days after announcing that Hurts was diagnosed with a blood clot in his calf. Hurts first suffered the injury when he took a cleat to his calf during a game against the Los Angeles Rams on October 4. He told the team medical staff about the issue after practice on October 8. He then practiced again the next day before the team traveled to London to play Jacksonville. An ultrasound done in London on October 10 showed a superficial blood clot. Doctors at the time cleared him to play safely, but recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight home.

Context

Players placed on the injured reserve list must sit out for a minimum of four games before they are eligible to return to the active roster. Blood clots require careful medical monitoring and treatment to ensure player safety during physical activity and air travel.
