Kawasaki has launched a new rugged motorcycle called the KLR650 DF in the United States market to expand its dual-sport lineup. Positioned between the standard model and the fully loaded adventure variant, the bike runs on a 652cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine joined to a 5-speed gearbox. This motor makes 40 horsepower and 53 Nm of torque.

Bike Features

The motorcycle comes with heavy-duty tubular steel crash bars to protect the front fairing and radiator from trail bumps and tip-overs. It features a 23-litre fuel tank, a two-position tall windscreen, rubber-damped touchpoints for the rider, and a reinforced rear carrier rack for long trips. Other equipment includes an LCD digital instrument cluster, standard dual-channel ABS, a 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel setup, a 41mm telescopic front fork, and an adjustable link-type monoshock. Unlike the adventure variant, this DF model leaves out the factory-fitted hard side panniers and auxiliary fog lamps, and comes in a metallic gray color scheme.

Availability and Price

The 2027 KLR650 DF ABS carries a starting price of USD 7,699 in the US. Deliveries to dealerships in that country will begin in December.

Context

Dual-sport motorcycles are built to handle both regular paved roads and rough off-road dirt trails. This particular model is unlikely to launch in India because this large single-cylinder engine style stays limited to overseas markets like North America.
