Indian stock market benchmark indices ended the week higher, with the Nifty rising nearly 3.78 percent to close at 23,146 and the Bank Nifty moving up 0.79 percent to settle at 55,844. Most major sectors posted gains, led by the IT sector which rallied nearly 10 percent during the week.

Market Outlook

Ganesh Dongre, AVP for Equity Research at Anand Rathi, stated that the market recovery was driven by buying interest at lower levels. However, global uncertainties and concerns regarding the US Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook continue to affect investor sentiment. Dongre also pointed to potential rate hikes by the Fed and the RBI, along with rising US 10-year Treasury yields, as key factors influencing foreign institutional investor flows into emerging markets like India.

Key Levels

Traders are advised to watch Brent crude oil prices, which are nearing previous highs close to $110 per barrel and could push toward $114 per barrel if they sustain that move. Geopolitical developments involving the Middle East and US-Iran relations may also impact crude prices and market direction. The Nifty rebounded from a support zone between 22,000 and 22,200, with immediate resistance placed in the 23,200 to 23,400 range. Meanwhile, the Bank Nifty faces resistance near 56,400 to 56,500, with support noted at 55,000.

Stock Recommendations

For Monday trades, the Anand Rathi expert recommended three stocks. Investors can buy Larsen and Toubro between ₹3,620 and ₹3,640 with a target of ₹3,860 and a stop loss of ₹3,560. Equitas Small Finance Bank is recommended for purchase between ₹70 and ₹71 with a target of ₹77 and a stop loss of ₹65. Finally, Bajaj Finance is suggested for buying between ₹975 and ₹985 with a target of ₹1,020 and a stop loss of ₹950.

Context

Stock market indexes like the Nifty and Bank Nifty track the performance of leading companies listed on Indian exchanges, serving as a general gauge of market health. Global factors like US interest rates and crude oil prices regularly influence Indian equities because foreign investors adjust their holdings based on international economic conditions.
