US and Denmark seal Greenland security pact

UPDATE - follow-up to US and Denmark reach deal over Greenland after Trump annexation threats: US and Denmark have agreed on a security pact for Greenland, ending a diplomatic row that began with President Donald Trump's threats to take the territory by force. Earlier this year, protesters in Nuuk demonstrated against Trump's ambitions. NATO said the agreement will help stabilise the region. Trump had said Denmark would give the US "permanent control over security, and all other needs" in the semi‑autonomous Danish territory. The leaders of Denmark and Greenland welcomed the pact, saying it will strengthen security. The deal is expected to be signed shortly.
