Busy Weekend

Actor Inde Navarrette had a packed weekend moving between the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday and the Newport Beach Film Festival on Sunday. She attended the festival as one of Variety's 10 Actors to Watch during the event's Honor Brunch. The festival continues through Thursday in Newport Beach. Speaking on the red carpet, Navarrette called the gala experience amazing and said she felt overwhelmed by meeting people she has long looked up to, while also noting the positive reception for her show "Obsession."

Meeting Idols And SNL

At the gala, Navarrette met screen icons Jessica Lange and Pamela Anderson. She praised Anderson for carrying herself with grace, honesty, and pure creativity. Looking ahead, Navarrette is scheduled to host the upcoming Halloween episode of "Saturday Night Live" alongside musical guest Gracie Abrams. She joked that she feels like she sneaks into her roles and said she wants to keep details secret to make the show fun for viewers while working alongside the writers.

Superhero Training

Navarrette is also joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the character Rogue in the upcoming "X-Men" film. While she has not spoken directly with Anna Paquin, who previously played the character, Navarrette feels a connection that began when she first loved the X-Men films as a child. She is currently undergoing stunt training for the role, which she views as a fun excuse to start going to the gym and moving her body.

Context

Film festivals and industry galas serve as major networking hubs where rising stars connect with veteran actors and industry leaders. Being named to an actor-to-watch list often helps young performers gain wider attention from casting directors and the public. Major entertainment franchises like the X-Men also require extensive physical preparation and stunt work from their cast members before filming begins.
