Maharashtra Minister's Niece Wins Seat in Swedish Parliament

Nila Vikhe Patil, the niece of Maharashtra minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, has won a seat in the Swedish Parliament. She contested the election as a candidate for the Social Democrats party in Sweden. Her family has a long history in politics back in India. Her grandfather, Eknathrao Vikhe Patil, and her father, Ashok Vikhe Patil, have both served in public office. Nila moved to Sweden earlier for her studies and eventually entered local politics there before running for the national parliament. Her win has brought much attention to her family back in Ahmednagar district, where local supporters celebrated the news. She will now take part in lawmaking duties in Stockholm as a member of the Swedish legislature.
