Representative image · PexelsNASA set aside two hundred kilograms of fuel for the first course correction of the Roman space telescope, but the craft used only eighteen kilograms. This major saving, along with extra fuel loaded before launch and more expected savings in the future, could stretch the mission plan from ten years to at least twenty-two years. Meanwhile, space agency teams have turned on the primary instrument of the Roman telescope and checked out its coronagraph. The advanced observatory has also captured its first view of cosmic light in space.
