Hyundai has revealed a new special edition for its performance sedan called the Elantra N Monochrome, designed to give the car a more understated look by removing its traditional blue-and-red color scheme. The new variant aims to draw more attention to the car's silhouette, materials, and performance capabilities by toning down visual distraction, which Hyundai calls the "understated yet undeniable" essence of its N brand.

Exterior and Interior

On the outside, the Monochrome edition features new black forged wheels alongside black or body-colored details that simplify the lines on the front and rear bumpers, side sills, brake calipers, and the rear diffuser. The car is available in two exterior colors, with Abyss Black Pearl offering an all-black look and Performance Blue pairing black accents with the N brand's signature blue. Buyers can choose between a Base Trim and an Upper Trim, with the higher option adding carbon-fiber mirror caps and a carbon-fiber rear spoiler. Inside, both trims feature a cabin lined with black Alcantara, a specially designed Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with black buttons, bright blue stitching, and a shift-knob accent stripe.

Availability

The Elantra N Monochrome is launching in Korea this month, with subsequent releases planned for Canada and Australia before expanding to other global markets. The automaker previously launched the Elantra N TCR Edition as a limited release before bringing it to the United States, leaving the possibility open for a future U.S. release.

Context

Automakers frequently release special edition trims of existing performance models to refresh consumer interest without redesigning the entire vehicle. These variants often rely on cosmetic updates, custom paint choices, and upgraded interior materials to offer a unique look while mechanical parts remain largely unchanged.
