Three young adults were killed in a car crash at Nedumbassery on October 11. The accident occurred near the Attani airport signal on Vimanathavala Road when a luxury car driven by Suhail Saji collided with a scooter. The victims were Mohammed Iyas, 22, son of P. Ebrahim from Karnataka; K.V. Devika, 21, daughter of S. Kumar from Wayanad; and M.P. Gopika, 22, daughter of Pradeep from Palakkad. Police have opened an investigation and said they will record the statement of Suhail’s mother, Nuha, today or tomorrow. Nuha had earlier posted that she bought the car for Suhail as a birthday gift. In a video she asked for privacy, called the loss of three precious lives unimaginable, pledged support to the victims’ families and urged a truthful probe, warning that many false rumors were spreading.

Reaction

Nuha’s video emphasized her grief, demanded privacy for her four‑member family and promised continued assistance to the bereaved families. She also urged the media to avoid baseless speculation and to let the legal process run its course.

Context

Road deaths on busy airport corridors remain a recurring safety issue in Kerala, prompting calls for stricter traffic enforcement.
