Photo: Openverse - flickrRSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on Tuesday that attempts to dismantle India will not succeed and that a change of government cannot alter the nation’s trajectory. He made the remarks at the Vijayadashami Utsav in Nagpur, warning that the idea of regime change is a mistake that has never happened before and will not happen again. Bhagwat linked the warning to ongoing protests over alleged irregularities in the Summary of Issues and Recommendations (SIR) of electoral rolls raised against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He said street agitation does not bring solutions and that real fixes must come from within society. The chief described India as a target of “evil forces” because of its recent progress and decisive policies, and he said these forces want to derail the country and the Sangh. Bhagwat cautioned that politically driven protests create tension, anarchy and disturb public order. He claimed that powers from the West, which he said despise Indian culture and security, are trying to destroy the nation, citing foreign interference in France, Nepal and Bangladesh as examples of regime‑change attempts. His comments followed senior Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s claim that the Delhi protests over SIR issues had turned into a fight for regime change. Bhagwat urged Indians to stay alert to such influences and to protect the country’s development path.## Context The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is a volunteer Hindu nationalist group that influences Indian politics and society. The Vijayadashami Utsav is an annual cultural festival where the RSS often shares its views with members and the public.
