Actor Nimrat Kaur, busy filming a project overseas, made it home in time for Dussehra. She says festivals mean family and nothing feels complete without relatives around. The actress describes the season as a chance to enjoy what matters most: great food, big laughs and simply being at home together. Her Dussehra spread features Poori, Sukhe Kale Chane, Khatta Meetha Kaddu, Sooji Halwa and Kheer, a break from her otherwise healthy diet. Kaur also plans a traditional outfit, favouring bright, playful colours for the occasion. She recalls celebrating Dussehra at a bustling local army cantonment where her father, Major Bhupender Singh, served as an Indian Army officer. As a child she watched a Ravan effigy burning ceremony followed by a large dinner for the whole unit. Reflecting on modern habits, she wishes to burn away "doom scrolling" and excessive social‑media engagement, likening it to the Ravana effigy. ## Context Dussehra marks the victory of good over evil in Hindu tradition and is widely celebrated across India with fireworks, effigy burning and feasts. Families often travel home to share meals and rituals, making the festival a key time for reunions.
