Veteran television and film actor Anita Kanwal has revealed that she is facing a financial crisis because she cannot find acting jobs. In a recent interview, she stated that her current savings will completely run out in about a year. Anita has worked in the entertainment industry for more than thirty years. Her past television credits include well-known serials such as Chanakya, Banegi Apni Baat, Shanti, Sonpari, Sasural Genda Phool, Gustakh Dil, and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. She also acted in Bollywood films like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Geetanjali, Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Gangaajal, Ajeeb Daastaans, and Raisinghani vs Raisinghani, in addition to starting her own production company in 2002 to make the show Goonj Ateet Ki.

Career Struggles And Casting

During her conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Anita expressed frustration over modern casting methods. She noted that she never had to give auditions earlier in her career because producers hired her based purely on her acting talent. She finds it strange when casting teams ask her what projects she has completed despite having acted in fifty to sixty shows over her lifetime. She also mentioned still receiving casting messages meant for twenty-one-year-old characters due to automated or poorly targeted outreach. The actor discussed how modern casting decisions now heavily depend on an actor's online presence. She is actively trying to grow her Instagram following by posting content twice a day. However, she emphasized that making short reels does not pay the bills, and creative artists ultimately need actual paying jobs to survive.

Family And Independence

Anita spoke about her desire to remain financially independent. Her only major asset is her current house. Even though her children offered to help support her, she refuses to take money from them and wants to be the one providing for her family instead. She started her TV career in 1991 with the show Chanakya and became widely recognized for playing Mrs Seth in Banegi Apni Baat in 1995.

Context

Financial instability is a common challenge for many veteran actors as roles become scarce with age and industry casting trends shift toward social media popularity. Many long-serving artists who established their careers before the digital era now struggle to secure steady work in modern television and film productions.
