Film distributor Dil Raju mistakenly called lead actor Ranbir Kapoor by the name Ranveer Singh during a grand promotional event for the upcoming movie Ramayana in Hyderabad.

The Event And Slip-Up

The promotional gathering brought together major stars and crew members including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, producer Namit Malhotra, and director Nitesh Tiwari. The Hyderabad event followed a similar successful gathering held in Bengaluru days earlier. While speaking at the start of the event, Dil Raju praised Ranbir Kapoor and noted that his company, Sri Venkateswara Creations, had previously distributed Kapoor's films Brahmastra and Animal in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He expressed hope that Ramayana would complete a hattrick of success in the region. However, he accidentally referred to Kapoor as Ranveer Singh before immediately laughing, realizing his mistake, and offering an apology to the actor.

Global Premiere And Cast Comments

Makers of the film announced that the grand global premiere of Ramayana will take place at the David Geffen Theatre of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on October 27. Actor Yash also spoke at the event, defending producer Namit Malhotra for taking a massive financial and reputational risk to push Indian cinema onto a global platform. Yash urged audiences to watch the film with an open mind and asked viewers not to nitpick minor visual effects flaws. Ramayana is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5.

Context

Pre-release promotional events are common in the Indian film industry, serving as major platforms for producers, distributors, and star cast members to build public excitement ahead of a movie's release. These gatherings often feature speeches from key team members and regional distributors who handle local theatrical business. Ramayana stands out as a high-budget cinematic project aiming for both domestic and international audiences.
