Venus may have had a moon in the past, but new computer simulations show that the planet could have swallowed it. As the rotation of Venus slowed down over time, tidal forces pulled the satellite inward past a danger zone known as the Roche limit. This process destroyed the rocky satellite. According to the research, this destruction and absorption could happen in some scenarios within just 30 million years. This scientific idea helps explain why Earth's twin planet currently has no moon.
