Amazon is phasing out its Fire HD tablets in favor of much pricier Alexa tablets, but shoppers can still buy the ad-supported Amazon Fire HD 10 at a discount. The price has dropped to a new low of $72.99, which is $82 off at Amazon. It currently costs slightly less than the Fire HD 8 model.
Tablet Features
The Fire HD 10 features a 10.1-inch 1080p display for watching shows and reading. It also has better front-facing cameras for video calls and up to 13 hours of battery life. The device comes with 32GB of built-in storage and includes a microSD card slot that expands storage up to 1TB. It also keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, which newer iPads do not have.
Software And Performance
Prime members can access Alexa Plus for free on the device to manage smart home systems. The tablet runs Amazon's Fire OS instead of Android, though users can sideload Android apps with relative ease. However, low-end specs mean some apps and games might not run very well.
Context
Budget electronics often see steep price drops when companies decide to shift their product lines toward higher-priced newer models. Consumers looking for affordable tech frequently track these final clearance sales before older lineups disappear from the market completely.
