What Happened

Health and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has ordered strict action against 493 doctors who remain unauthorizedly absent from their duties. The Minister issued these directions during a review meeting held at the APIIC building in Mangalagiri.

Official Rules

Employees must now get medical certificates only from government doctors when taking sick leave. The department will no longer accept medical certificates or recommendations issued by private doctors.

Pending Files

The review meeting revealed that staff shortages caused heavy delays in clearing official files. Since the current government took power, 4,410 matters reached the Minister, mostly about transfers, but officials cleared only forty percent of them. The Minister directed that no file should stay pending at any level for more than two days, and officials must ask for an explanation and take disciplinary action if an individual caused the delay. A new dashboard will also be built to track the status of all files. Officials have a maximum period of three months to take action against the absent doctors. Principal Secretary G. Veerapandian, Joint Secretary Ronanki Gopalakrishna, and Drug Control Administration Director General Arun Babu attended the meeting.
