The 2027 Ineos Grenadier Station Wagon introduces two new trim levels, expanding choices for buyers of the rugged, boxy off-road SUV. A Helmsman model joins the lineup between the base version and the Fieldmaster, offering 17-inch wheels with Bridgestone all-terrain tires, a five-speaker premium audio system, and a manual split sunroof. A top-trim Fieldmaster Highlands Edition also debuts, bringing unique 17-inch wheels and heated, leather-trimmed front seats. Under the hood, a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine from BMW pushes out 281 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. Power flows to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a mechanical transfer case operated by a physical lever.
Off-Road Focus
The vehicle uses old-school underpinnings like body-on-frame construction, solid front and rear axles, and a standard locking center differential to tackle rough terrain. Optional packages add electrically locking front and rear differentials, while the Trialmaster Edition brings BF Goodrich tires, a snorkel air intake, and a second battery that powers 110-volt appliances up to 400 watts. Inside, the cabin features aircraft-style physical toggle switches on the dashboard and roof, a single 12.3-central screen for infotainment and instrumentation, and a secondary soft toot horn designed for pedestrians. Cargo space reaches 44 cubic feet behind the rear seats, expanding to fit 30 carry-on suitcases when those seats fold down.
Context
The Ineos Grenadier is built as a throwback to vintage 1980s adventure vehicles, rejecting modern touchscreen-heavy design in favor of mechanical controls and heavy-duty utility. It competes in the mid-size luxury SUV segment against models like the Land Rover Defender, Porsche Cayenne, and BMW X5. Its focus on raw off-road capability means its on-road ride and fuel efficiency lag behind plusher rivals.
