BMW Motorrad has filed a design patent for its Vision CE electric scooter concept in India, indicating the German maker is looking at the market for the radical two‑wheeler. The Vision CE was first shown at IAA Mobility 2025 and has since been patented in several countries. Its main safety feature is a metal tubular cage with an integrated seatbelt, which BMW says lets riders go without a helmet or riding gear. The company compared this idea to its C1 scooter from 25 years ago that used similar bodywork protection. The scooter can balance itself when stationary, so the rider does not need to put a foot down. BMW has not released power‑train numbers, only describing the drive as emission‑free electric. The design is low‑slung with a long wheelbase, a layout similar to the CE 04 model. BMW Motorrad already sells the CE 04 in India at an ex‑showroom price of Rs 15.25 lakh. Filing a design patent does not guarantee a production launch or any India‑specific details. BMW Motorrad has not commented on when, or if, the Vision CE will move to production anywhere.
Context
The patent shows BMW is testing interest in India, a large market for two‑wheelers, while the safety cage concept aims to make electric scooters more user‑friendly for riders who prefer not to wear helmets.
