International Gemological Institute shares hit their ten percent upper circuit at three hundred fifty-three rupees and twenty paise apiece on Thursday, October 22. The sharp stock rally came after the company announced strong financial results for the quarter ending September 2026.

Financial Growth

Consolidated profit after tax jumped more than forty-three percent year-on-year to one hundred eighty-five point eight crore rupees for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, compared to one hundred twenty-nine point eight crore rupees in the same period last year. Revenue from operations grew thirty-one percent to three hundred ninety-eight crore rupees against three hundred three point seven crore rupees previously. Managing Director and CEO Tehmasp Printer stated that solid operational execution and healthy market demand drove these results.

Market Position

Before this rally, the stock showed mixed movement, gaining eight percent in a single week but falling two point five percent over six months. At the upper-circuit price, the shares traded about nine percent below their fifty-two-week high of three hundred eighty-eight rupees reached in May 2026, while the lowest price in the past year was two hundred eighty-seven rupees and twenty-five paise in January 2026. Printer noted that the firm remains category-neutral by design, offering independent certification for natural diamonds, lab-grown stones, finished jewellery, and coloured gemstones.

Future Outlook

Looking ahead, the company expects seasonal demand to serve as a major business driver. Printer highlighted that the festive season in India and the holiday ordering cycle in the US are picking up speed as retailers and manufacturers prepare for increased consumer spending. Furthermore, lab-grown diamonds are seeing higher adoption rates, while traditional diamonds and coloured gemstones continue to provide steady growth opportunities across different segments.

Context

Independent certification bodies play a vital role in the gems and jewellery market by verifying the quality and authenticity of precious stones for both buyers and sellers. When companies in this sector report strong earnings and revenue growth, it often reflects broader consumer confidence and active retail spending during peak buying seasons.
