Jaiprakash Power Ventures shares have fallen for three straight trading sessions following a sharp drop in net profit for the second quarter of financial year 2026. The associate company of Adani Power declared its Q2 results on Monday, reporting lower profits on both a year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter basis. Market experts state that the stock has faced selling pressure due to weak earnings, mid-cap liquidity pressures, macro uncertainties, and profit booking after earlier speculative rallies.
Analyst Views
Mahesh M Ojha, VP of Research and Business Development, notes that the stock saw heavy profit booking because earnings did not match peak market multiples following optimism around Adani stake discussions and debt settlement talks. Another analyst, Anuj Gupta, expects company fundamentals to remain weak until the next quarterly earnings, though value buying could return once the secondary market improves. Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking, advises existing investors to hold the stock with a stop-loss at ₹12.50. Bagadia adds that the stock needs to break above ₹15 on a closing basis for an upside target of ₹18.
Context
Power sector stocks in India often see sharp price movements driven by corporate developments, regulatory approvals, and broader market liquidity. Analysts routinely provide technical levels like support and resistance to help investors navigate volatile trading periods.
