Pension subscribers can now manage all account services in one place through a new digital platform called NPS Central, launched by the pension regulator PFRDA.
Key Features
Subscribers no longer need to remember their PRAN number to log in, as the platform allows access using a registered mobile number, date of birth, and an OTP. The portal brings together services from three central recordkeeping agencies, namely Protean, KFintech, and CAMS, and went live on October 1, 2026, to mark NPS Day. Users can view their investment portfolio, check contribution status, make new contributions, compare schemes and pension funds, download account statements, and update profile details.
Additional Services
People looking to open a new account can also use the platform, which offers onboarding backed by AI along with KYC via CKYC and DigiLocker. Onboarding on the portal has zero fees, though other service and investment charges apply. The platform also links to the Pension Sahayak portal for lodging complaints and allows registration for NPS Swasthya, which pairs a dedicated investment amount with super top-up health insurance.
Context
Platforms like this aim to cut down the hassle of visiting multiple websites for people saving towards their retirement. However, the regulator notes that while the portal simplifies account management, it does not guarantee higher returns on investments.
