Jamia Millia Islamia launches one-year postgraduate courses in 13 subjects

Jamia Millia Islamia has approved one-year postgraduate programmes in 13 disciplines through open, distance and online learning modes. This move makes the institution one of the central universities offering these one-year master courses for the 2026-27 academic session, alongside Delhi University.

Programme Details

An office order released on September 21 states that these programmes comply with the National Education Policy 2020 and University Grants Commission rules. The new curriculum includes a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Commerce in Business Management. Master of Arts degrees are now available in eleven subjects: Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Human Resource Management, Islamic Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, and Urdu.

Implementation

These courses will run through the university's Centre for Distance and Online Education. Registrar Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi issued the order on behalf of the Academic Council. The university has asked deans, directors, department heads, and the distance education director to take action on the order.
