Global-affairs journalist Bianna Golodryga is in talks to work for two news organizations at the same time after announcing her departure from CNN. Negotiations are underway with Politico, where she could cover global affairs, and CBS News, where she may serve as a contributor. Sources with knowledge of the discussions note that talks remain fluid and may not lead to a final agreement. Executives from both Politico and CBS News were not immediately reached for comment. Golodryga has spent nine years at CNN, joining the network in 2017 as an international anchor and a fill-in for Christiane Amanpour and Fareed Zakaria. During her earlier career, she spent two years contributing to CBS News while co-anchoring 'CBS This Morning' alongside Gayle King, John Dickerson, and Norah O'Donnell. On Thursday, she posted on social media that she is leaving CNN for an opportunity she could not pass up, while expressing gratitude for her time and colleagues at the network. One person familiar with the situation indicated that Golodryga may have seen less room for growth at CNN following cutbacks to the hours devoted to veteran anchor Christiane Amanpour. Amanpour announced earlier in the week that she will leave CNN next year after nearly four decades in television news across ABC News and the Skydance news giant.
Context
Working for multiple media outlets at once was traditionally rare in the television news industry. Today, however, changing media models make dual arrangements more common as journalists pursue independent projects alongside mainstream roles.
