Tamil Nadu Rains

Heavy rain continues to lash parts of Tamil Nadu as the northeast monsoon intensifies, triggering waterlogging in Chennai and several southern districts, flooding homes and farmland, and raising water levels in major reservoirs. Kanyakumari, Tenkasi and Madurai are among the worst-affected districts. The India Meteorological Department forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall across several districts over the next 24 hours, while Chennai could witness heavy downpours on October 24 and 25. The state is expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall until October 26 due to weather systems developing over the Bay of Bengal. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay reviewed monsoon preparedness and ongoing relief operations at the State Emergency Operation Centre on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer in Uttar Pradesh announced that irregularities were found in 10,470 entries in the electoral roll of the Pilibhit Assembly constituency.
