Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan is ruled out of the second T20I match against New Zealand due to a low grade right adductor strain in his groin. He sustained this injury during the first match of the series, where India started with a record win. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that Kishan will miss the upcoming fixture in Christchurch on Saturday.
Replacement Options
Young player Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is in the race to take Kishan's spot in the final playing XI for the second T20I. During the previous series against West Indies, Sooryavanshi remained on the bench without getting a game. Because Kishan usually bats at the number three spot, team management faces decisions on the batting order. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma open the innings aggressively, and Sanju has prior experience playing at one-down.
Medical Updates
The Board of Control for Cricket in India medical team is closely monitoring Kishan's recovery and progress. During the first T20I, the injury forced a change in the batting order, pushing Tilak Varma and Shreyas Iyer ahead of Kishan before he eventually came out to bat.
Context
Injuries during long tours force team management to test bench strength and give opportunities to young players in the squad. Medical teams track minor muscle strains carefully to prevent players from aggravating their injuries during active series.
