Telangana government officials must now collect and verify PAN and Aadhaar card details for all service and family pensioners. These details will be updated directly in the Integrated Financial Management and Information System pension module.

Verification Goals

The verification drive aims to correctly record pensioner particulars and properly identify both service and family pensioners. Officials will cross-check pensioner records against data on deceased pensioners to improve overall administration. The Treasuries and Accounts department stated the memo intends to stop irregular pension withdrawals and protect the state treasury from financial losses.

Protests and Retirements

This verification comes while retired employees hold protests in front of the Secretariat over delayed retirement benefits. A total of 9,719 employees will retire by the end of 2026, and another 9,443 employees will leave office next year. Departments must finish this verification process by December 31.

Context

Governments frequently update digital databases to maintain transparent records and prevent fraudulent payments in public welfare programs. Such verification drives are common tools used by public administrations to manage large numbers of beneficiaries.
