A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old acquaintance named Santosh in Medchal on Wednesday night after she stepped out to watch a Durga Matha idol procession. According to the Pocharam IT Corridor police, the private employee took her to an isolated location to commit the assault, after which the victim informed her mother. Police registered a case based on the mother's complaint and arrested Santosh on Thursday, remanding him in judicial custody. In a separate incident in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, a 42-year-old man identified as Ajay alias Amit Chauhan was arrested for the alleged rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl. The child went missing on Monday evening after stepping out to buy groceries, and her body was found Thursday morning in bushes behind a poultry farm in the Rajgamar police chowki area. A police sniffer dog helped investigators trace the suspect to his house in the Ravanbhatha locality. Additional Superintendent of Police Lakhan Patle stated that the accused visited the area to see a woman he claimed was his second wife before spotting the child alone, assaulting her, murdering her, and fleeing.

Context

These two separate criminal investigations highlight how local police departments rely on family complaints and canine units to quickly trace suspects in violent crimes against women and children. Both cases resulted in swift arrests within days of the incidents following reports filed by affected families. Rapid police action remains crucial in securing evidence and apprehending suspects in such sensitive cases.
