Aamir Khan announced that director Rajkumar Hirani will present the final draft of the long‑awaited 3 Idiots sequel in the next few weeks. The comment came while Khan accepted the Screen Icon Award at the Singapore International Film Festival. He said he had checked with Hirani before speaking and was allowed to confirm that the script is being prepared. Khan added that he expects to hear the completed screenplay shortly after returning from Singapore. He noted that the story is still in the writing phase and no shooting schedule has been set. The sequel, first mentioned publicly in April, will follow the original characters a decade after the 2009 film. Earlier, Khan told Amar Ujala that he had read the draft and found it wonderful, describing it as unusual yet retaining the humor of the first movie.
