Chery has unveiled two high‑tech electric two‑wheelers, marking its first foray into the premium e‑bike market. At a technology showcase in its Wuhu headquarters, the company presented the Grow C3 cruiser and a pure‑electric adventure (ADV) scooter under the new Cinnox brand. Grow C3 is billed as the world’s first range‑extended AI‑intelligent cruiser, combining a fully electric drive with a small petrol generator that recharges the battery while riding. The bike offers vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) capability, a digital instrument console, call and music connectivity, OTA updates and a cruiser‑style layout for long trips. Chery says the generator lowers fuel and maintenance costs and extends range, though exact figures were not released. The ADV scooter is said to deliver 150‑200 km on a charge and can be recharged with an automotive charger; details on AC or DC charging remain unclear. The launch follows Chery’s recent government approval for its commercial‑vehicle arm to start motorcycle production and a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filing that registered an electric moped, likely a placeholder to secure a manufacturing licence. The moped resembles Yamaha’s Vino range, a design used in cheap Chinese clones sold for as low as CNY 2,000, featuring sub‑2 kWh lead‑acid batteries, hub motors and about 50 km range. Chery, known for passenger cars and SUVs such as Omoda, Jaecoo, Jetour and Exeed, aims to target China’s premium electric two‑wheeler segment while initially using the low‑cost moped to gain production experience. ## Context The move shows traditional auto makers expanding into electric two‑wheelers, a segment where low‑cost clones dominate, and highlights Chery’s strategy to combine premium features with range‑extension tech to differentiate from inexpensive models.
