Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway launched a series of Rail Jan Samvaad meetings at 102 stations under the Indian Railways' Special Campaign 6.0. The gatherings aimed to collect feedback from commuters, students, local leaders, passenger groups and rail fans on how to improve services. At Thiruvananthapuram Central, Divisional Railway Manager Divyakant Chandrakar chaired the session in front of senior officials. Similar dialogues were held at other stations, giving officials a chance to hear passengers directly. Attendees asked about train schedules, facilities on board and at stations, station cleanliness, safety measures, on‑time performance and how complaints are handled. Railway staff responded where possible and logged the rest for follow‑up by the relevant departments. The campaign, running from Oct 2 to Oct 31 nationwide, emphasizes cleanliness, better use of space, proper disposal of scrap and e‑waste, and encourages public involvement. In the Thiruvananthapuram division, the one‑day event also featured station clean‑up drives and tree‑planting activities, inviting railway workers and locals to help create greener premises. ## Context The Rail Jan Samvaad format reflects Indian Railways' push to make passengers partners in service upgrades, aligning with broader government goals of cleaner public spaces and community participation.
