A two‑day national urology surgery workshop opened on Friday in Prasanthigram, jointly run by a local medical institute and the Urological Society of India (USI). The event falls under USI’s CARES programme and aims to sharpen surgical skills across the country. Managing trustee R J Rathnakar of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust opened the sessions, recalling the founder’s goal of free, high‑quality health care for all, regardless of background. More than fifteen top urologists from different states are taking part. Seventy advanced procedures are slated for October 23‑24 across eight operating rooms. Surgeries cover reconstructive work, kidney stone removal, prostate operations and cancer‑related interventions. The schedule gives participants a chance to share techniques and learn newer methods. ## Context The workshop reflects a broader push in India to improve specialist training and make cutting‑edge urology care more widely available, especially in regions that lack such expertise.
