Excise officials seized 1.5 kg of dried ganja, two firearms, and five rounds of ammunition during a raid in the Sikh Chawni area of Kishanbagh on Friday. The suspect was identified as Sardar Raja Singh Ranjit Singh, from whose possession the items were recovered.
Investigation Details
Excise Deputy Commissioner A. Srinivas Reddy stated that the raid happened after officials got reliable information about narcotics and weapons in the area. During questioning, the suspect said he bought the ganja from a person named Rahul who lives in Mangalhat. He also claimed he got the pistol from an unknown person in Nanded, Maharashtra. However, he could not give clear details about where he got the second firearm and the ammunition.
Official Action
Officers from the Dhoolpet and Rajendranagar excise circles, including Circle Inspector Praveen Kumar, carried out the operation. Officials are now trying to find the suppliers and check the exact origin of all the seized items.
Context
Raids involving both illegal drugs and weapons are serious criminal matters that often require tracking supply chains across different cities. Law enforcement agencies typically investigate such cases to break larger illegal trade networks and find out how weapons are brought across state borders.
