The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has increased its ground activities in Uttar Pradesh to prepare for the 2027 assembly elections. The group is working alongside the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to promote the development and law and order record of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Lucknow Meeting
Leaders from both organisations met on 16 September at a Lucknow resort to plan their election approach and improve coordination among the state government, the party, and Sangh workers. While the BJP has not made any official announcement about its campaign plan, sources indicate the RSS wants Yogi Adityanath to lead the upcoming electoral battle as its face. The strategy focuses on taking government achievements and security measures directly to villages across the state.
Strategy and Concerns
Several key figures attended the discussions, including BJP national general secretary B.L. Santosh, RSS joint general secretary Arun Kumar, and UP party in-charge Vinod Tawde. Leaders warned participants that the opposition would try to spread confusion and cautioned that even party workers and young family members could fall for such narratives. The meeting addressed specific challenges like the UGC row and paper leaks, stressing that the government's strict anti-paper-leak law must be explained clearly to the public. Organisers also highlighted the ongoing one-month Seva Sankalp Abhiyan campaign as a chance to connect with voters and counter rival claims with welfare work.
