Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is preparing to launch a new bond sale to raise about ₹10,000 crore through 10-year notes at an annual coupon rate of 7.90 per cent. Four merchant bankers shared this plan, noting that the company will invite bids from investors either next week or the week onward. This move follows a previous fund raise just two weeks ago, where the oil-to-telecom giant collected ₹12,000 crore through five-year papers at a 7.47 per cent coupon rate. That earlier deal marked the firm's first rupee bond offering since November 2023. Large private-sector banks are expected to act as arrangers for the current deal and will likely subscribe to a portion of the bonds. Company leaders aim to wrap up this borrowing before the central bank releases its monetary policy decision on October 7. Favorable local bond yields have made this domestic funding cheaper than raising US dollar debt, especially after a sharp rise in Treasury yields. Once completed, this fresh issuance will push the company's total outstanding bonds to ₹54,000 crore.
