The new electric Range Rover combines a traditional exterior look with a dual-motor setup delivering 550 horsepower and 850Nm of torque. Built on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture, the luxury SUV accelerates from zero to 100kph in 4.5 seconds while maintaining structural dimensions similar to fuel-powered models.
Off-Road and Performance
Tested across muddy mountains and rocky streams in Scotland, the vehicle utilizes instant torque and a rapid traction management system to control wheelspin without a low-range gear. It matches its petrol and diesel counterparts with a 900mm wading depth. The battery placement lowers the center of gravity by 88mm, which reduces body roll while twin-valve dampers and dual-chamber air suspension ensure a smooth ride.
Battery and Pricing
Energy is stored in a 118.5kWh NMC battery supporting 800V architecture and 350kW DC charging, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in 22 minutes and a WLTP-claimed range of 600km. The model is scheduled to arrive in India as a completely built unit next year with expected prices starting near Rs 3 crore, while deliveries are set to begin in the second half of 2027.
Context
Luxury automotive brands are increasingly introducing battery-powered options that retain the classic design and off-road capability of their internal combustion flagships. Importing vehicles as completely built units into India attracts higher import duties compared to local assembly, influencing the projected price point for early buyers.
