Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that his ministry is working to identify jobs that face the lowest risk from artificial intelligence. Speaking to Indian students and researchers in Germany, Mr. Goyal stated that the plan aims to find sectors where AI can boost work efficiency without taking away human jobs. India plans to use its large pool of skilled workers, young population, and traditional strengths to lead the world in specific areas.

Focus Sectors

Mr. Goyal pointed out fields like handicrafts, handloom, culinary arts, and tourism as areas where human creativity and traditional skills cannot be replaced by machines. The government also plans to look at ways to bring back Indian engineers, scientists, and researchers working abroad by building a better research ecosystem, noting that talent attraction is about support systems rather than just money. During his visit to Germany, he met with government and private leaders to discuss ways to increase trade and investment between India and Germany.
