Bharatiya Janata Party National President Nitin Nabin accused the Congress on Saturday of never following the Constitution and ruling the country based on its own wishes. Speaking in Ranchi during a three-day visit to Jharkhand, Mr. Nabin addressed party workers and leaders at the inaugural session of the BJP state executive committee meeting.

Party Meeting

This marks the first time the party chief addressed the state executive meeting after central leaders recently revamped the Jharkhand BJP unit with new office-bearers and organisational in-charges. Before this speech, Mr. Nabin met with all district presidents and in-charges.

Allegations

Mr. Nabin stated that attempts are being made to challenge constitutional institutions and democracy in India. He blamed the Congress for imposing the Emergency and frequently using President's Rule in various states. He also accused the opposition party of trying to create anarchy with help from both domestic and foreign powers, and claimed that Rahul Gandhi now questions constitutional institutions even though he never did so when the Congress held power.

Context

Political parties in India often use state executive committee meetings and public interactions to set their organizational strategy and address political opponents ahead of upcoming electoral battles. Jharkhand remains a key state where major national parties regularly contest for political influence and voter support.
