A local court sentenced a woman and her partner to life imprisonment for killing a 26-year-old man within the Kakinada Port police limits. The court also ordered them to pay a fine of 5,000 rupees.
The Crime
On January 30, 2025, a woman named Lavanya asked her husband, Gudala Chandrasekhar, to come to their house in TIDCO Colony in Kakinada city. She promised to return money that he had asked for earlier. Mr. Chandrasekhar lived separately at his native place in Penugonda Mandal of West Godavari district because of disputes with his wife. Lavanya and her partner, Oduluri Lovaraju, attacked him with iron kitchen utensils on the same night and beat him to death, according to Kakinada Port Police Circle Inspector P. Sunil Kumar.
Context
Such criminal cases handled by local courts often involve prolonged legal procedures before final sentencing is delivered. Domestic disputes that escalate to violent crimes are a serious focus for law enforcement agencies across the country.
