Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath Gupta has asked voters in the Kurnool Municipal Corporation to vote for alliance candidates by a large margin to secure better public infrastructure.
The Rally
Mr. Bharath rode a bicycle through wards 57, 59, 60, 55, and 56 on Saturday to meet residents and gather support for the NDA. He asked the public to vote for candidates from the Telugu Desam Party, BJP, and Jana Sena Party, along with Mayoral candidate Bolleddula Vijaya Pratyusha. The cycle rally started at the Indira Gandhi Nagar arch, passed through Sitaram Nagar, Ayushman Hospital, Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Uma Devi Hospital, and ended at the Narasimha Reddy Nagar water tank, where the Minister spoke at major junctions.
Claims and Warnings
Mr. Bharath stated that city development projects have picked up speed since the alliance government took charge, claiming that progress had already been made during their two-and-a-half-year tenure. He warned that a win for YSRCP candidates could create hurdles for the city's growth. At the same time, Mayoral candidate Vijaya Pratyusha asked citizens to vote for the TDP to secure her victory.
Context
Local body elections in municipal corporations are critical for managing civic amenities like water supply, roads, and sanitation in urban areas. Political parties often use rallies and door-to-door campaigns involving senior leaders to boost local support before the polls.
