Three women hostellers at Jamia Millia Islamia received eviction notices, sparking a student protest on Thursday. The protest was held at the Central Canteen inside Gate Number 7 and was organised by AISA together with AIRSO, Fraternity Movement, MSF, NSUI, SFI and SIO. Student groups said the notices followed complaints about food quality and basic living conditions in the hostel. AISA accused the administration of targeting those who raised the concerns and demanded the notices be withdrawn. "If these arbitrary notices are not withdrawn immediately, we will be forced to intensify this struggle across the campus," the organisation warned. A university official called the claims a misrepresentation, saying the notices were linked to hostel eligibility rules, not to the protests. The official noted that results of redressal cases were announced two days earlier and three students did not meet the required 55 percent mark to retain hostel accommodation. Hostel rooms are allocated on merit as per the hostel manual. The official added that the students can seek redress and obtain the needed marks, and that they have been allowed to stay for the past two months on sympathetic grounds. All three students remain enrolled at the university.
