India to Play West Indies in ODI and T20 Series Starting Sunday

India will start their preparations for the ODI World Cup at the beginning of the 2026-27 home season by playing three ODIs against the West Indies, starting Sunday. The ODI series will be followed by five T20 matches once the team returns from the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, where Shreyas Iyer will lead the side. During the ODIs, attention will be on senior players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they aim for another World Cup appearance late next year. Both players last played in the 1-2 series loss in England. While Kohli had a quiet series, Rohit scored a century at Lord's in the final match. The three ODIs will take place in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, and New Chandigarh. India made changes to the squad because some white-ball stars are unavailable due to a schedule clash with the Asian Games. Shubman Gill will captain India's ODI squad, which includes Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul as vice-captain, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Naman Dhir. Shai Hope will captain the West Indies ODI team. The T20I squad for India will be led by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain. Other players in the T20 squad are Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Mayank Yadav.
