The Odisha government has released the second instalment of ₹ 14.34 crore to eligible higher education institutions for the 2026-27 academic session. This amount accounts for 15 per cent of the total approved financial help under the state scheme. Officials stated that the Higher Education Department disbursed the money through the Student Academic Management System, known as SAMS. Earlier, the department gave out a first instalment of ₹ 9.56 crore, which was 10 per cent of the approved help. This brings the total amount given out so far through both instalments to ₹ 23.90 crore. State Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said releasing the money in phases will help run the scheme properly and make sure eligible students get free education without money problems. The 'Gyanodaya – Shiksha Ru Samruddhi' scheme offers free education from kindergarten to post-graduation. It applies to students studying in regular undergraduate and postgraduate courses at state public universities, government colleges, and private colleges that receive government aid. Students who get help under this scheme only need to pay the official exam fee.
