Program Launch

Indian Institute of Technology Madras has teamed up with Chevron's Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center to roll out a fresh support platform for energy sector innovators. The newly established Chevron-IITM Energy Technology Incubation scheme aims to back student innovators, independent researchers, and social business founders working on novel energy projects.

Focus Areas and Support

Selected teams will get customized help based on their current project phase, ranging from early prototype testing and business plan checks to financial grants, expert coaching, and market preparation. The initiative specifically targets four key areas: tech-based ideas, energy grid systems, carbon capture or reuse methods, and circular economy resource management.

Leadership Remarks

Prof Ashwin Mahalingam, who serves as the Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relations at IIT Madras, stated that the partnership will give creators expert guidance and technical advice to turn raw concepts into working models. Through this arrangement, Chevron will supply professional mentorship, industry knowledge, staff volunteer support, and direct contact with creators. Meanwhile, the institute will open up its research network and testing facilities to help entrepreneurs scale their clean energy products.
