UPDATE - follow-up to US-Iran War Live News Updates: Trump rejects Iranian proposal to open Hormuz and end war: Tehran insists that a diplomatic agreement is still the only way to resolve the conflict with the United States and Israel after President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and halt fighting. The seven-day roadmap had been transmitted to Washington through Qatari mediators at the UN General Assembly to end hostilities and reopen the critical waterway, but Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran's conditions remain unmet while it waits for a definitive response. Speaking at the White House, Trump confirmed he turned down the offer, framing it as a sign of weakness because Iran is running out of money and losing badly under mounting economic pressure. Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz announced that a record 146 countries have condemned Iran over attacks on civilian shipping during the last 13 days, calling Tehran's maritime operations acts of desperation. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent thanked Turkey, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and the UK for restricting Iranian banking and aviation links under Operation Economic Outcast, noting Turkey and Oman stopped Mahan Air flights while the UAE halted all Iranian airline flights. On the other side, Iran's armed forces warned the US against interfering in the Strait of Hormuz, with spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi stating Washington would be slapped if it intervenes.
