A video from the Tilak Nagar assembly constituency shows Delhi minister Parvesh Verma allegedly slapping a young man who was filming a road inspection. The footage quickly spread on social media, sparking strong reactions from the opposition Aam Aadmi Party. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal demanded the minister's arrest and announced plans to visit the site to inspect the road himself. AAP MLA Jarnail Singh stated that Verma lost his temper when questions were raised about road construction work. Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bhardwaj also condemned the incident, calling it shameful and cowardly. The young man involved, who handles social media for the local AAP MLA, told news agency ANI that an FIR has been registered. He claimed that Verma's associates threatened to kill him after the incident took place in front of police officers. Minister Parvesh Verma shared a video statement on X admitting that what happened should not have happened, while giving his side of the story. He accused the local AAP MLA of misbehaving, demanding a commission from contractors, and having a worker abuse his family. Verma stated that anyone who obstructs government work or abuses family members will face an angry reaction, adding that a separate police complaint and FIR are also being filed against the MLA.
