Voice actor Eric Bauza has passed away at the age of 46 from hypertensive cardiovascular disease at his home on Sunday. His family shared a statement on Instagram confirming that his death happened suddenly. Chris DeFaria, a producer on the movie Coyote versus Acme and former head of animation and technology at Warner Brothers, paid tribute to him. He noted that Bauza treated famous animated roles with immense respect rather than just viewing them as a job.
Career and Roles
Bauza provided the voices for iconic animated figures including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Marvin the Martian, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, and the Road Runner. He lent his talents to Space Jam: A New Legacy in 2021 and the animated release Coyote versus Acme, alongside appearing in Forgotten Island. Beyond those, he voiced the Toad General in The Super Mario Brothers Movie and its sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Legacy and Honors
He earned deep admiration for following in the footsteps of original voice master Mel Blanc, whom Bauza frequently compared to a borrowed car he promised to return. Between 2022 and 2025, he secured three Emmy awards for his outstanding vocal work across multiple television series. Channing Dungey, the chairman of Warner Brothers Television Group and US Networks, stated that Bauza brought joy and laughter to millions of people globally.
Context
Voice actors who take on historic animated roles carry a unique responsibility to preserve character styles that audiences have loved for decades. Bauza built his extensive range through self-taught practice and a profound passion for classic animation history. His work spanned major studio films as well as television projects that reached global audiences across different age groups.
