The Hindu Group and the Cancer Institute (WIA) Adyar unveiled “Cancer 360: Overview of Detection, Treatment, Palliation” at a launch in Chennai on Oct 26, 2026. N. Ram, director of The Hindu Group, handed the first copy to Dr. E. Hemanth Raj, executive vice‑chairman of the institute, while editor Suresh Nambath co‑hosted the event. The book maps the entire cancer journey—from prevention and early detection through surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, rehabilitation, and end‑of‑life care. It brings together chapters on multidisciplinary tumour boards, precision treatment, pathology, nutrition, onco‑physiotherapy, speech and swallowing rehab, psychological support and hospice services. Dr. Hemanth Raj said the guide aims to turn research breakthroughs from the West into practical tools for Indian patients and to fund charitable programmes that lower treatment barriers. Dr. Arvind Krishnamurthy stressed that ongoing research is needed to create better therapies. Dr. Mahalakshmi Rangabashyam Shetty highlighted the need for personalised plans that include exercise, diet and supportive care. Dr. V. Surendran pointed out that making technical information widely available can improve mental‑health support for cancer patients. All contributors are experts from oncology and allied fields. The Hindu offers the e‑book free to its subscribers via its premium website.
Context
Comprehensive cancer guides are rare in India, where patients often rely on scattered information. Bundling clinical, rehab and palliative advice aims to help patients and families navigate treatment more easily.
