Tata Consumer Products shares rose almost 7 percent on Tuesday, 27 October, after the company reported strong financial results for the September quarter. The stock ended the day up 6.66 percent at ₹999 on the BSE, ending a three-day losing streak.
Financial Results
For the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, the consumer products company reported a 14 percent year-on-year increase in revenue from operations, reaching ₹5,661 crore. Group net profit for the quarter rose 16 percent to ₹470 crore, and consolidated EBITDA increased 18 percent to ₹794 crore. Just a day prior, on 26 October, the stock had hit a 52-week low of ₹916.60, while its 52-week high was ₹1,282.65 on 12 May. Year-to-date, the stock remains down 15 percent, compared to a 14 percent fall in the Sensex, though it is up 5 percent in October so far.
Brokerage Views
Brokerage firms shared mixed technical and fundamental outlooks following the earnings. Equirus Securities maintained a long view on the stock with a December 2027 target price of ₹1,173, citing growth in non-tea and non-salt businesses. Systematix Shares and Stocks upgraded the stock to a buy while lowering its target price to ₹1,185 from ₹1,245, building a revenue and EPS compound annual growth rate of 12 percent and 19 percent for fiscal years 2026 through 2029. Meanwhile, Jigar S. Patel, Senior Manager of Equity Technical Research at Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers, noted that the stock trades below its major 50-, 100-, and 200-day double exponential moving averages. Patel placed immediate support near ₹950 and resistance at ₹1,020, stating that a breakout above ₹1,020 could trigger an upside target of ₹1,100.
Context
Quarterly earnings reports are financial updates that publicly listed companies release every three months to show their revenue, profit, and overall business health to investors. Stock prices frequently react strongly to these announcements when corporate earnings either beat or miss the expectations set by market analysts.
