Guntur District Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma visited local election centres on Tuesday to check preparations for the upcoming local body polls.
Venue Arrangements
Andhra Muslim College will serve as the distribution hub for Guntur Municipal Corporation polls. Meanwhile, strong rooms and vote-counting facilities are set up at the campus of Acharya Nagarjuna University, which will also handle arrangements for Zilla Parishad elections.
Official Directives
During his inspection alongside GMC Commissioner K. Mayur Ashok and Zilla Parishad CEO V. Jyothi Basu, the Collector told officials to keep all poll supplies ready and monitor the attendance of presiding officers and other election workers. He ordered proper food arrangements for staff, smooth vehicle routes, and CCTV cameras inside strong rooms and counting halls.
Context
Local body elections in India require extensive logistical planning to manage voting materials, transport, and security across multiple centres. District officials regularly inspect these sites beforehand to make sure the voting process runs without delays or security gaps.
