Andhra Pradesh has deployed six thousand electricity workers to quickly fix power lines that might get damaged by cyclone Arnab. Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar held a meeting with power company officials to check readiness plans.

Personnel And Supplies

The work force includes four thousand employees from the eastern power utility and one thousand workers each from the southern and central power companies. Officials have already stored extra utility poles, wires, transformers, and cables, alongside machines to clear fallen trees from power lines.

Safety And Helplines

The government told top power company bosses to visit impacted districts and watch the situation directly on the ground. The public can report power issues using the 1912 helpline, which now has the capacity to handle thirty thousand calls at the same time.

Context

Power utilities in coastal regions routinely preposition work crews and materials before major storms hit to reduce prolonged outages. Quick communication through helplines helps emergency teams reach damaged areas much faster.
